Rotary Atomizers are used in Spray Drying for atomizing the feed into fine droplets. In Rotary Atomizers, the kinetic energy of wheel rotation is used for atomization of the liquid. Droplet size of atomized liquid depends upon liquid properties, disc speed, disc configuration etc. Bulk density is also one of the critical product requirement of spray dried products. The desired results can be achieved by using different Atomizer wheel configurations and optimizing atomizer speed, optimizing relevant feed properties.

Liquid atomized particles will come in contact with the hot air entering the spray chamber in a co-current fashion through an air distributor located on top of spray chamber. The atomized particles get instant dried when they are exposed to heat. 

Spray Drying technology is widely used in the industry for converting liquid solutions/ suspensions/ slurry /emulsions to powder, granules or agglomerates. Fluid Bed Dryers / Cooler are widely used in the Industry for gentle drying/cooling of free flowing solids. Perforated plate is used to fluidize the material with the help of air stream. The fluid material is imparted mechanical energy by vibration. Plenum is used below the perforated plate to make the cooling media. Dryer comprises of a Rotary Steam Tube Bundle supported on a pair of Radial & Thrust Rollers at either end. Rotary Steam Tube Bundle is rotated through a Girth Gear & Pinion arrangement driven by drive motor & gearbox.

Rotary Steam Tube Bundle comprises of a shell welded with fixed tube sheet & dished end on one end & floating tube sheet on the other end. Three rows of pipes are welded on the periphery of fixed tube sheet at one end. Other end of individual pipes are supported through floating tube sheet, closed with welded end plates and connected to a Ring Header, common to all pipes.  is a rotating shell of fully welded construction comprising of pipes, lifter flats, pipe supports, end tube sheet, dished end etc. The pipes are welded to tube sheet on one end.  The tube sheet is welded to the rotating shell and closed by dished end welded to shell.  Pipes are also supported at intermediate locations through pipe supports welded to the shell.  Radial lifters are provided inside the shell at suitable location to facilitate showering of the material over tubes.  Dished end is provided with nozzle for mounting of Rotary Joint. 

Dry saturated steam is used as heat transfer media. Rotary Joint is used for admitting steam into the dryer as well as taking out the condensate through an internal siphon arrangement. Non-condensate vents are provided on the ring header for removing non-condensable.
